YOU NEED A MASSAGE
PATRICIA A. CISARANO L.M.T -- member of the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals
Hi! Welcome to POWERTOHEAL .COM. I am happy to be a part of this wonderful network. As some of you already know, I have been a NYS licensed massage therapist since 1980, and I bring those years of experience to my work. I have worked in gyms, spas, salons, chiropractors offices, and privately. I also have been teaching BASIC BODY MASSAGE at the OPEN CENTER for more than 16 years. I realize the value of massage in my life and I am happy to see that more and more people are opening up to the many benefits of massage. Massage is considered to be among the oldest of all treatments used by man. Chinese records dating back 3000 years document its use. The ancient Hindus, Persians, and Egyptians used forms of massage for some ailments and Hypocrites wrote papers recommending the use of rubbing and friction for joint and circulatory problems.
Today, massage is an accepted part of many physical rehabilitation programs and has proven beneficial to many chronic conditions. Massage helps relieve the stress and tension of everyday living-helping the body to return to its normal balance. And providing relief to people from all walks of life. From the athlete to the bedridden-anyone can feel the need for a massage at some point in time. The older population, as well, will benefit from massage, as it enhances flexibility and circulation. There are some conditions where massage is not recommended, however. Your practitioner will ask for information regarding specific health conditions to determine this.
My licensing is in Swedish, one of the most pleasant forms of massage. Since I have been practicing for so many years, I have picked up various techniques, which I include in my work-as do most good massage therapists. Generally, a lubricant like massage oil or crème is used for slide. The pressure is adjusted to the specific individual, and from treatment to treatment. Sometimes very deep work in indicated, at others, a lighter touch is appropriate. Music and aroma is often used to promote a feeling of well-being within the experience of the massage. Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, some experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity, which can last for days. Massage can also promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being!
Isn’t it time you gave yourself the care you deserve?
